Our
Story

Our journey started with a simple idea: to create space where everyone would feel welcome. We knew our city was lacking in something very specific. Hurricane Laura had ripped the spirit out of every one of us. Those lucky enough to come home to a standing house were still witnesses to the destruction of our city while in a pandemic. Our city was lacking in spirit and in need of some serious healing. Time healed us, as time does, and we started to rebuild. That is where our plans really started to take root.

Creative Roots has been operating out of my home since 2018 but I never dreamed it would grow into a place of its own. Somewhere in my mind I knew my herbals and art would not be enough to supply a whole store front. Even adding in Shari’s refab furniture and crafts and with Kelsie’s diverse apothecary products, it still wouldn’t be enough. When I sat back and thought about what I would want my dream store front to look like, it was clear. I want to share space with other creators in our city. I wanted to showcase the amazing talents of all our neighbors! So many local artisans are sitting at farmers markets and parking lots just waiting to be discovered and if you’ve EVER put up a booth to sell your wares you know…. It’s a lot of work. I wanted a stable space where it was all put together in a more perma place.

When sowing seeds of thoughts in all my creative friends minds, I knew I didn’t want this to be an indoor farmers market vibe. I wanted our place to encompass intentional energy, spirit, and healing.

Slowly, We started to collect artists like precious collectables, vetting and finding beautiful and unique products made by equally beautiful and unique people.

So here we are, 2023, we have opened a beautiful store front featuring over 23 local creators. Artist, potters, collectors, seamstress, quilters, jewelry makers, candle makers, herbalists, and so much more! We have created a wonderful space to share with our community. We take the time to print out bios of our artists, put up pictures, shoutouts on all our socials, and participate in as many local events as we can. Sure, I want to sell my herbal products but helping others realize their dreams is just as much of a win for me. Now, all we need is the community to support and promote our local artisans too!

It doesn’t stop at shopping local; we are learning local by providing crafting classes! Some of our talented creators open up space and teach classes in their craft. This is a really awesome way to support your local artists without having to buy “things.” Instead spend your money on an experience. Invite your friends, kids, or even coworkers to share space and make something together. It is also a safe and comfortable setting to branch out and learn something new on your own. Bring your favorite wine or beverage of choice and lose yourself in some creative crafting!

One of my favorite amenities is the tea bar. Try our tea blend of the day or brew any of our house tea blends in store. You can have tea while you shop or sit in our seating area with a nice book from our library. You also have the option of blending your own tea blend with any of our teas and/or herbs. The options are limitless! Creative Roots has something for everyone.

Our city is finally starting to rebuild. Less blue tarps and more farmers markets. Getting back to the roots of health and wellness is gaining some much-needed popularity. The community is looking for healthy healing alternatives and wholesome living. Nature has always been healing us from the beginning of time. It’s time to relearn how to we cope/ coinside/  cooperate with the planet we live on. Creative Roots understands that. We supply many herbal supplements, tea blends, loose wholesale herbs, bathing essentials, and skin care all made with quality organic herbs. We always opt for local options when possible. We are also one of the few large-scale crystal and mineral shops in our area. We have hundreds of different high quality and sited crystals in all shapes, sizes, and prices. Truly a shop with a little bit of everything.
